Abstract
Peanuts play a pivotal role as an economic crop on a global scale, serving as a primary source of both edible oil and protein. Peanut rust (Puccinia arachidis Speg.) disease constitutes a significant global biotic stress, representing a substantial economic threat to the peanut industry by inducing noteworthy reductions in seed yields and compromising oil quality. This comprehensive review delves into the distinctive characteristics and detrimental symptoms associated with peanut rust, scrutinizing its epidemiology and the control strategies that are currently implemented. Notably, host resistance emerges as the most favored strategy due to its potential to surmount the limitations inherent in other approaches. The review further considers the recent advancements in peanut rust resistance breeding, integrating the use of molecular marker technology and the identification of rust resistance genes. Our findings indicate that the ongoing refinement of control strategies, especially through the development and application of immune or highly resistant peanut varieties, will have a profound impact on the global peanut industry.

Association of LDL-C/HDL-C ratio with coronary heart disease: A meta-analysis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a common heart disease and a leading cause of death in developed countries and some developing countries such as China. It is recognized as a multifactorial disease, with dyslipidemia being closely associated with the progression of coronary atherosclerosis. Numerous studies have confirmed the relationship between a single indicator of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) or high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and CHD. However, the association between LDL-C to HDL-C ratio (LHR) and CHD remains unclear. This study aimed to comprehensively explore the association between LHR and CHD. METHODS This meta-analysis was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses. PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases were comprehensively searched up to June 15, 2023, to find the studies that indicated the connection between LHR and CHD. A total of 12 published studies were selected. The random-effects model was used to pool the data and mean difference (MD), and the 95% confidence intervals (CI) were taken as the overall outcome. No language restrictions existed in the study selection. The Review Manager 5.4 and Stata 12 were used to analyze the data. RESULTS Twelve high-quality clinical studies involving 5544 participants, including 3009 patients with CHD, were enrolled in the meta-analysis. The findings revealed that the LHR was higher by 0.65 in patients with CHD than in those without CHD (MD, 0.65; 95% CI, 0.50-0.80). CONCLUSION The LHR was found to be positively correlated with CHD, suggesting that it may serve as a potential indicator of CHD.

Abstract
Administration of sedatives for post-resuscitation care can complicate the determination of the optimal timing to avoid inappropriate, pessimistic prognostications. This prospective study aimed to investigate the distribution and elimination kinetics of midazolam (MDZ) and its metabolites, and their association with awakening time. The concentrations of MDZ and its seven metabolites were measured immediately and at 4, 8, 12, and 24 h after the discontinuation of MDZ infusion, using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The area under the time-plasma concentration curve from 0 to 24 h after MDZ discontinuation (AUClast) was calculated based on the trapezoidal rule. Of the 15 enrolled patients, seven awakened after the discontinuation of MDZ infusion. MDZ and three of its metabolites were major compounds and their elimination kinetics followed a first-order elimination profile. In the multivariable analysis, only MDZ was associated with awakening time (AUClast: R2 = 0.59, p = 0.03; AUCinf: R2 = 0.96, p < 0.001). Specifically, a 0.001% increase in MDZ AUC was associated with a 1% increase in awakening time. In the individual regression analysis between MDZ concentration and awakening time, the mean MDZ concentration at awakening time was 16.8 ng/mL. The AUC of MDZ is the only significant factor associated with the awakening time.

Heart failure with Sarcopenia: A Bibliometric review from 1995 to 2022.

Abstract
This study aimed to dynamically track the priorities and potential research hotspots in the field of heart failure with sarcopenia. Using CiteSpace, we analyzed the literature on heart failure with sarcopenia from the Web of Science database from 1995 to 2022. The analysis encompassed 507 records, revealing an overall upward trend in annual publication volume. Europe and the United States emerged as the primary regions for publishing, particularly driven by contributions from developed countries such as the United States, Germany, and Italy. Productive institutions included the Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin, University Medical Center Gottingen, the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK), Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and the National Institute on Aging (NIA). Noteworthy academic groups have formed around these institutions; von Haehling S, Anker Stefan D, Springer J, and Doehner W frequently collaborated. The core journals that frequently published articles in this area included Circulation, European Heart Journal, and The Journals of Gerontology Series A-Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences. Based on the keyword analysis, we identified three key research areas. First, the diagnosis and definition of sarcopenia emerged as significant themes. Second, researchers have focused on exploring the mechanisms underlying heart failure with sarcopenia, including inflammation, insulin resistance, and oxidative stress. Finally, treatment strategies, such as physical activity and nutritional support, constitute another critical research theme. Furthermore, potential research hotspots within this field include clinical randomized controlled trials, investigations into inflammatory mechanisms, cardiac rehabilitation, studies on physical activity, androgen receptor modulators, and investigations into clinical outcomes such as cognitive impairment.

Dietary regulation of the SIgA-gut microbiota interaction.

Abstract
Gut microbiota (GM) is essential for host health, and changes in the GM are related to the development of various diseases. Recently, secretory immunoglobulin A (SIgA), the most abundant immunoglobulin isotype in the intestinal mucosa, has been found to play an essential role in controlling GM. SIgA dysfunction can lead to changes in the GM and is associated with the development of various GM-related diseases. Although in early stage, recent studies have shown that assorted dietary interventions, including vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, polyphenols, oligo/polysaccharides, and probiotics, can influence the intestinal SIgA response and SIgA-GM interaction. Dietary intervention can enhance the SIgA response by directly regulating it (from top to bottom) or by regulating the GM structure or gene expression (from bottom to top). Furthermore, intensive studies involving the particular influence of dietary intervention on SIgA-binding to the GM and SIgA repertoire and the precise regulation of the SIgA response via dietary intervention are still exceedingly scarce and merit further consideration. This review summarizes the existing knowledge and (possible) mechanisms of the influence of dietary intervention on the SIgA-GM interaction. Key issues are considered, and the approaches in addressing these issues in future studies are also discussed.

The association between recreational physical activity and depression in the short sleep population: a cross-sectional study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Short sleep is more common in the modern society. Recreational physical activity (RPA) like exercise brings both mental and physiological benefits to depression; paradoxically, lack of sleep is harmful. Evidence on the association between RPA and depression in the short sleep population is limited. METHODS Participants with short sleep condition from the National health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES 2007-2018) were included in the present study. Short sleep condition was defined as ≤ 7 h per night. Sleep duration and RPA status were self-reported in NHANES by the Physical Activity Questionnaire using a 7-day recall method. Multivariable logistic regression was applied to evaluate the association between RPA and depression. Additionally, the non-linear relationship between RPA and depression was evaluated using the threshold effect analysis and restricted cubic spline. RESULTS This cross-sectional study comprised 6,846 adults' data, and the weighted participants were 52,501,159. The weighted prevalence of depression was higher in females, which took up 65.85% of all depression patients. In fully adjusted models, sufficient volume of RPA was associated with lower depression risks, with OR (95% CI) =0.678 (0.520, 0.883). Further analysis revealed a U-shaped association between RPA and incident depression, and the inflection point was 640 MET-minutes/week. When RPA <640 MET-minutes/week, increased RPA was associated with lower risk of incident depression, with OR (95% CI) = 0.891 (0.834, 0.953). When RPA ≥ 640 MET-minutes/week, the benefits of RPA seemed to be not significant, with OR (95% CI) = 0.999 (0.990, 1.009). CONCLUSION Our findings observed associations between RPA condition and incident depression in the short sleep population. Moderate RPA was beneficial to maintain mental health and associated with lower incidence of depression for short sleepers, but excessive RPA might increase the risk of depression. For general short sleepers, keeping the RPA volume approximately 640 MET-minutes/week was beneficial to lower risks of depression. Gender difference should be considered as an important factor for further studies to examine these relationships and explore mechanisms.

Abstract
The global increase in antimicrobial drug resistance has dramatically reduced the effectiveness of traditional antibiotics. Structurally diverse antibiotics are urgently needed to combat multiple-resistant bacterial infections. As part of innate immunity, antimicrobial peptides have been recognized as the most promising candidates because they comprise diverse sequences and mechanisms of action and have a relatively low induction rate of resistance. However, because of their low chemical stability, susceptibility to proteases, and high hemolytic effect, their usage is subject to many restrictions. Chemical modifications such as D-amino acid substitution, cyclization, and unnatural amino acid modification have been used to improve the stability of antimicrobial peptides for decades. Among them, a side-chain covalent bridge modification, the so-called stapled peptide, has attracted much attention. The stapled side-chain bridge stabilizes the secondary structure, induces protease resistance, and increases cell penetration and biological activity. Recent progress in computer-aided drug design and artificial intelligence methods has also been used in the design of stapled antimicrobial peptides and has led to the successful discovery of many prospective peptides. This article reviews the possible structure-activity relationships of stapled antimicrobial peptides, the physicochemical properties that influence their activity (such as net charge, hydrophobicity, helicity, and dipole moment), and computer-aided methods of stapled peptide design. The role of gut microbiome in the complex relationship between respiratory tract infection and asthma.

Abstract
Asthma is one of the common chronic respiratory diseases in children, which poses a serious threat to children's quality of life. Respiratory infection is a risk factor for asthma. Compared with healthy children, children with early respiratory infections have a higher risk of asthma and an increased chance of developing severe asthma. Many clinical studies have confirmed the correlation between respiratory infections and the pathogenesis of asthma, but the underlying mechanism is still unclear. The gut microbiome is an important part of maintaining the body's immune homeostasis. The imbalance of the gut microbiome can affect the lung immune function, and then affect lung health and cause respiratory diseases. A large number of evidence supports that there is a bidirectional regulation between intestinal flora and respiratory tract infection, and both are significantly related to the development of asthma. The changes of intestinal microbial components and their metabolites in respiratory tract infection may affect the occurrence and development of asthma through the immune pathway. By summarizing the latest advancements in research, this review aims to elucidate the intricate connection between respiratory tract infections and the progression of asthma by highlighting its bridging role of the gut microbiome. Furthermore, it offers novel perspectives and ideas for future investigations into the mechanisms that underlie the relationship between respiratory tract infections and asthma.

The eINTACT method for studying nuclear changes in host plant cells targeted by bacterial effectors in native infection contexts.

Abstract
Type-III effector proteins are major virulence determinants that most gram-negative bacteria inject into host cells to manipulate cellular processes for infection. Because effector-targeted cells are embedded and underrepresented in infected plant tissues, it is technically challenging to isolate them for focused studies of effector-induced cellular changes. This protocol describes a novel technique, effector-inducible isolation of nuclei tagged in specific cell types (eINTACT), for isolating biotin-labeled nuclei from Arabidopsis plant cells that have received Xanthomonas bacterial effectors by using streptavidin-coated magnetic beads. This protocol is an extension of the existing Nature Protocols Protocol of the INTACT method for the affinity-based purification of nuclei of specific cell types in the context of developmental biology. In a phytopathology scenario, our protocol addresses how to obtain eINTACT transgenic lines and compatible bacterial mutants, verify the eINTACT system and purify nuclei of bacterial effector-recipient cells from infected tissues. Differential analyses of purified nuclei from plants infected by bacteria expressing the effector of interest and those from plants infected by effector-deletion bacterial mutants will reveal the effector-dependent nuclear changes in targeted host cells. Provided that the eINTACT system is available, the infection experiment takes 5 d, and the procedures, from collecting bacteria-infected leaves to obtaining nuclei of effector-targeted cells, can be completed in 4 h. eINTACT is a unique method for isolating high-quality nuclei from bacterial effector-targeted host cells in native infection contexts. This method is adaptable to study the functions of type-III effectors from numerous gram-negative bacteria in host plants that are amenable to transformation.

Abstract
Ethyl carbamate (EC) is a probable carcinogenic compound commonly found in fermented foods and alcoholic beverages and has been classified as a category 2A carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Alcoholic beverages are one of the main sources of EC intake by humans. Therefore, many countries have introduced a standard EC limit in alcoholic beverages. Wine is the second largest alcoholic beverage in the world after beer and is loved by consumers for its rich taste. However, different survey results showed that the detection rate of EC in wine was almost 100%, while the maximum content was as high as 100 μg/L, necessitating EC content regulation in wine. The existing methods for controlling the EC level in wine mainly include optimizing raw fermentation materials and processes, using genetically engineered strains, and enzymatic methods (urease or urethanase). This review focused on introducing and comparing the advantages, disadvantages, and applicability of methods for controlling EC, and proposes two possible new techniques, that is, changing the fermentation strain and exogenously adding phenolic compounds. In the future, it is hoped that the feasibility of this prospect will be verified by pilot-scale or large-scale application to provide new insight into the regulation of EC during wine production. The formation mechanism and influencing factors of EC in wine were also introduced and the analytical methods of EC were summarized.
